  • Ashibumi - Footing, first of the eight stages of shooting
  • Atari - Successful hit
  • Azuchi - Target Bank, made of earth in a traditional Dojo
  • Daisan - Intermediate Draw, part of Hikiwake
  • Dojo - Practice Hall
  • Dozukuri - Forming the Torso, second stage of shooting
  • Giriko - Resin used to improve the grip of the glove
  • Goju Jumonji - Five Crosses
  • Hanare - Release, seventh stage of shooting
  • Haya - the Primary Arrow, shot first as part of a pair in formal shooting
  • Hayake - Premature Release
  • Hanshi - The Title of Master
  • Hikiwake - Drawing Apart, fifth stage of shooting
  • Hitote - A Pair of Arrows, consisting of the haya and otaya
  • Hirakiashi - Turning in the Kneeling Position
  • Heijoshin - Condition of calmness
  • Hoozuke - Touching the Cheek
  • Honza - Base Position, usually three paces from the Shai
  • Ikiai - Harmony of Breath
  • Itatsuki - the Tip Segments of the arrows
  • Itsukebushi - First Joint
